The 4th Massachussetts
Organized in the spring of 1775 at Roxbury Massachusetts to consist of 10 companies from southwestern Worcester County, the unit that would come to be known as the 4th Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental line was authorized on April 23rd 1775 as Learned’s Regiment.
Throughout the American War for Independence, the unit was reorganized and assigned to multiple brigades.
On August 1st 1779, the unit was redesignated as the 4th Massachusetts Regiment. They fought in many of the significant battles and campaigns of the American Revolution inlcuding the Siege of Boston, New York City, Northern New Jersey, Trenton - Princeton, Saratoga, the defense of Philadelphia and Monmouth. The 4th Massachusetts was disbanded on November 3rd, 1783 at West Point, NY.

The Infantry
The Infantry of the River Valley Colonials Fife and Drum Corps provide a unique addition to the programs that are presented. Each person in the ranks thoroughly schooled in the Von Steuben Manual of Arms. RVC’s infantry utilizes reproductions of the types of weapons that were used in Washington’s Colonial Army.
